  HOW TO GET TO AEGINA

The closest International airport to Aegina is Eleftherios Venizelos in Athens, this airport opened in March 2001 and is located about 25 kms outside of the centre of Athens in an area called Sparta.

There are several ways that you can travel from the airport to Piraeus to meet with your ferryboat.

Bus

Just outside of the arrivals hall, you will find the bus stop for bus number E96.  This is a direct service to the Port of Piraeus and leaves about every 15 to 20 minutes during the day and about every half hour at night. The bus stops several times on the way and Piraeus harbour is the last stop.  The price of the ticket is €3.10 (At night the price can be slightly more) and is valid for 24 hours. You may use this ticket on the bus, trolley bus or the metro. The trip will take around 1 hour to 1 hour and 30 minutes depending on the time of day and on the traffic.

At the airport you can buy the ticket at the small ticket office located next to the bus stop and for your return journey from Piraeus you buy the ticket also at the ticket office next to the bus stop.

When you get onto the bus you take the ticket which you have bought and you put it in the ticket machine on the bus which will print the date on it.  This is very important as you can be fined for not validating the ticket.

Taxi

You can also take a taxi from the airport to Piraeus. When leaving the airport, please make use of the taxi queue next to Door 3 of the Arrivals Level. Taking a taxi is mostly quicker than the bus (of course dependent on the traffic). Some drivers do the ride in 30 minutes! The price will be about €30 - €35.  You can ask the driver for a price before you set off but this will only be a guide price as they should use their taxi meter for the journey.

From Piraeus Main Harbour

To Aegina Town
From Piraeus there are several ferries to Aegina. There are ferries of Hellenic Seaways (used to be Saronic) and the ferry Aghios Nektarios which is a separate company. There are 2 Hydrofoil companies: Hellenic Seaways and Vassilopoulos. There is also a fast Catamaran service to Aegina.
Prices of tickets vary depending on the ferry you take. Aghios Nektarios is the cheapest (single ticket 4 euro) and Hellenic Seaways is the most expensive (single ticket around 9 euro). You can find the exact timetables at the ticket offices at the quay, the entrance door of the ferry also displays the time the ferry will leave.

To Souvala
Some Ferry boats of Hellenic Seaways are going directly to Souvala. Mostly this ferry will go to Aegina Town after visiting Souvala. The "Albi Hellas" Ferry is going directly to Souvala.

To Aghia Marina
The Saronic Round Ferry is connecting Piraeus with Aghia Marina.

Once you have arranged your flights into Athens let us know and we will check the up to date timetables for the day that you require.
