One of the most
welcoming cities of any Greek island, Kos Town hides behind a
Venetian-walled harbour where ocean going yachts nestle against the
brightly coloured fishing caiques.
Famed for the
colourful bougainvilleas found on almost every building, the narrow
streets and picturesque square encourage you to dwell awhile - and
you will, enjoying the view and a long cool drink.
The island's
coastline is famed for its superb beaches. Bicycles are the
ideal way to explore the island at your own pace. Of course
for those feeling a little less energetic, cars are freely available
for hire.
Kos has everything
you could want - the classical beauty of Asklepieion or magnificent
sunsets seen from the high village of Zia. And sitting in the
bustling town centre you are surrounded by history.
There is so much to
do - but if you should feel restless, how about a boat trip to
Kalymnos, where you can buy your own natural sponge for a fraction
of the price you pay at home. Or further afield by hydrofoil
on a day trip to the splendours of Rhodes. |
